Pitching - How to be at your best during competition
The major theme for this camp will be preparing for the upcoming Spring / Summer so pitchers can be at their best when it matters most: in the game.

Specific sections will include how the UNC pitching staff handles in-season

  • Arm care (prethrowing / recovery)
  • Velocity maintenance / development
  • Routine / mental approach
  • Overall development
In addition, each prospect will showcase his abilities in a live bullpen session.

UNC Pitching Coach, Nick Childs, takes a unique approach in pitching development, focusing on athleticism and not being a “pitching robot.” This includes catch play drills and non-traditional developmental methods that will be taught at camp. These developmental methods assist in improving arm health, velocity, command, and “stuff” by allowing pitchers to be athletic, on time, and repeatable each pitch.

Catching
Catchers will run through catching specific drills and skills led by UNC Head Coach / Catching Instructor, Carl Iwasaki, Assistant Coaches Nate Rasmussen and Jake Ek.

Specific sections taught at camp will include

  • Receiving
  • Blocking
  • Throwing
  • Managing a pitching staff
Catchers will also receive instruction while receiving live bullpen sessions.

Other staff will include current UNC student-athletes and guest instructors.
